Frequently asked questions

Do guests need to install an app?

No. Guests open a secure link in their phone's browser and fill in their details in their own language among 10 available.

How is a guest's identity verified?

At three levels: manual entry, automatic reading of the document from a photo, or an advanced validity check with a selfie ↔ document match.

Does Hostello support ESTI?

Yes. Hostello automatically generates an import file for the ESTI platform from checked-in guest data.

Which documents are supported?

ID cards and passports — for manual entry, scanning and biometric verification.

What notifications does the system send?

Reminders to the owner about upcoming arrivals and to guests about unfinished verification — by email and push, in the recipient's language.

Which channel managers and calendars can I connect?

Hostello supports HotelRunner and Exely, plus one-way imports from iCal/ICS and Google Calendar. Hostello never edits external calendar events.

How does the Shelly integration work?

Shelly can switch on an air conditioner or boiler shortly before arrival and switch them off after departure based on your rules and the reservation.

How does TTLock access work?

For a reservation at a connected property, Hostello can automatically create an access code and send it to the guest.

Can a guest pay from their phone?

Yes. You set an amount on the reservation, the guest receives a secure payment page and pays remotely. The confirmed payment status appears in Hostello and funds are routed to your client bank account through the active payment provider.

Does Hostello support the Spanish guest registry?

Yes. Data from verified and registered guests can be prepared and sent to the Spanish guest registry without entering it twice.
